Name and Origin

Papaya leaf (Carica papaya) comes from the tropical papaya plant, native to Central America and Mexico. Traditionally, its leaf has been used in various natural remedies across many cultures, including Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine.

Papaya leaf is rich in powerful plant compounds like flavonoids, and enzymes like papain, which help improve digestion. Studies suggest it can boost platelet counts, making it useful for managing conditions like dengue fever. Contraindications

Pregnant and breastfeeding women are generally advised to avoid papaya leaf, as its safety during these stages is not well-established. Drug Interactions

Papaya leaf may interact with blood-thinning medications like warfarin. Since it has potential anti-platelet properties, combining it with blood thinners could increase the risk of bleeding. Dose

There is no universally recommended dose for papaya leaf. In one clinical study, 25 ml of papaya leaf extract was administered twice daily for a period of 5 days to a dengue fever patient. It is best to follow dosage guidelines from a healthcare provider.
