ABOUT US

CAPS (Caribbean-American Professional Society) is a group of professional Caribbean descendants particularly: physicians, scientists, lawyers, nursing, business people, and other like-minded people interested in the support, promotion, and fellowship of bright young aspiring students in high school/college with a Caribbean heritage. This is accomplished by identifying stellar students and supporting them through social gathering, mentorship and discussion. It is also a social group and an avenue for networking with other Caribbean professionals in the region/Virginia. Many of us had to navigate our way through the sea of information, guessing all the while whether or not this was the correct path. That being said, we should be able to identify students and give them the benefits of our collective knowledge and experiences. Particularly we will function as a bridge in supporting students in the basic sciences, mathematics and Caribbean medical mission support. We encourage all (Caribbean and non-Caribbean) professionals who are interested in support of our mission to join us on this voyage.

OUR MISSION:

CAPS change lives by empowering, supporting and encouraging students to realize their fullest potential and to impact their environment through awareness, social support, access, and development.

OUR VISION:

CAPS vision is to become a world phenomenon where Caribbean descendants are highly valued, encouraged and influential as leading innovators, scientists, medical professionals and engineers.

In addition, would like to continue giving back by getting involved with medical mission trips to the Caribbean, identifying and supporting bright young minds, offering support where needed.

OUR GOAL:

Initially, we will identify 1 aspiring student in the Virginia area. All initial funds donated or received for membership will directly go to support our initial candidate; up to $1000.00 Additionally, we would like for interested parties to consider becoming officers on our team (treasurer, secretary, etc). That being, said your support is greatly appreciated. We would like for you to support CAPs; a subsidiary of Christiana Gordon Foundation with confidence. As a 5019c) (3) nonprofit organization, we are proud of the way we manage our resources.

MEMBERSHIP:

We’re always looking for professionals eager to positively impact high school and college students, interested in becoming a professional themselves. Our aim is to have, you, the professional, mentor, mold and give direction to young people interested in a career similar to the path you have chosen. For a few hours, a couple times a month, you can give a gift of your wisdom, knowledge and direction to someone making their choice easier and more streamlined. As previously stated, many of our paths were carved in tremendous effort, sweat and tears; but it does not have to be that way. You now know the path, so let’s make it easier for someone else. What are you waiting for?
