Autoimmune diseases are disorders caused by an inability of the immune system to distinguish between the body’s own cells and foreign microbes such as viruses and bacteria, leading to the immune system attacking the body. The etiology of autoimmune diseases is unknown, however there are multiple studies have indicated that medications or vaccines could play a role. To be clear however, a confirmed causality and pathogenesis of the autoimmune conditions in vaccinated patient remains unconfirmed.
There has been a steady rise in the incidence of autoimmune disorders, especially antinuclear antibody-related diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, Sjogren syndrome, Addison disease and autoimmune hepatitis which have risen in incidence from 11% to 16%, and currently have a reported annual rise in incidence of between 3% and 9%. The reason for this rise has been attributed to several factors, but more recently, there have been suggestions of links to the covid-19 vaccine.
Research has previously shown links between the covid-19 virus and increases in autoantibodies which can attack healthy cells and increase disease severity which is part of why the global roll-out of the vaccine was promoted. However, following vaccinations, there has been a rise in reports of patients being diagnosed with new-onset of autoimmune disorders such as immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia, autoimmune liver diseases, Guillain-Barré syndrome, IgA nephropathy, rheumatoid arthritis, and SLE.
Pfizer released a report in April 2021 which contains a list of adverse events spanning 9 pages. Several of these disorders include autoimmune phenomena but Pfizer concludes that these findings are consistent with the known safety profile of their product BNT162b2 and to them, the “cumulative post-marketing experience confirms a favourable benefit-risk balance”. Most of these “adverse event,” if you are diagnosed with one, is negatively life-altering. Unfortunately many doctors, nurse practitioners, or physician assistants do not know about them and there are no standard treatment for them. These conditions are seldom, if ever, discussed by the FDA, CDC, NIH, or the news media outlets.
