A boil is a skin condition whereby pus collects under an oil gland or follicle caused by Staphylococcus aureus bacterium. Boils are characterized by red, painful and hard swellings that soften and increases with size after a few days. Tiny cuts in the skin and hair follicles pave the way for bacteria to enter the body. Boils mostly appear on the armpits, neck, face, and buttocks. People with poor hygiene, low immunity, diabetes, and poor nutrition are most susceptible to skin infections.
Tea tree oil contains Terpinen-4-ol that helps in fighting the Staphylococcus aureus bacterium. Its antifungal and antiseptic properties make it very effective for fighting fungal and viral infections that cause boils. In addition, with regular use, tea tree oils help reduce the inflammation and pain caused by the boil. Tree oil is theorized to be gentle on the skin and is popular for its wide range of capabilities when dealing with fungi, bacteria, and viruses that cause skin infections.
To a half-full tablespoon of carrier oil, add three drops of tea tree oil and mix. Smear the mixture on the boil two times a day until the abscess heals.
