Hair loss, also known as alopecia, is the gradual, unexpected thinning of hair on your head or body characterized by receding hairlines and recurrent split ends. Hair loss is caused by stress, inappropriate nutrition, chronic illnesses, aging, and hormonal imbalances. The signs of hair loss include receding hairlines for both men and women, circular bald spots, sudden hair loss when combing, and full-body hair loss. The main types of alopecia include; traumatic alopecia resulting from damaging hair styling practices, female-pattern hair loss resulting from genetics, hair loss resulting from scarring, and patchy hair loss.
Onion juice contains Sulphur-the primary building block for hair growth. The extra Sulphur provided by the onion juice prevents hair loss by promoting healthy hair growth and collagen production. Onions’ anti-bacterial properties make them more suitable for use in treating infections that contribute to hair loss. A study observed that onion juice could treat alopecia aretata where 87% of patients had more success than those who did not use it. Onion juice is essential when used in hair care as it prevents premature graying, treats dandruff, hair thinning, and itchy scalp.
Peel the onions. Wash the onion thoroughly. Chop in tiny pieces. Blend it to extract the juice. Massage the juice to the scalp, leave it for fifteen minutes once or twice a day, and wash it off with hair shampoo.
