SOCIAL DISTANCE

The practice of social distancing means staying home and away from others since people can spread the virus before knowing they are ill. The practice of social distancing encourages people to stay at least 6 feet away from others when possible. One way of doing this is to use things such as online video and phone communication instead of in-person contact. People can catch COVID-19 when the virus gets into their mouth, nose, or eyes, which is more likely to happen when people are in direct, or close contact. Physical distancing is one of the most important precautions that are to be followed as you keep yourself safe during this pandemic. It is recommended that you practice distancing (6 feet/two arm's length), especially important for people who are at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19.

Remember you can transmit this disease while speaking, coughing, or sneezing:
  • Don't hug
  • Avoid being in large groups like at bars and coffee shops
  • Work remotely
  • Stay as far from others as possible when traveling
  • Limit touching when running errands
  • Don’t share your items with others
  • Wash your hands when your exit public spaces
