MAGNESIUM: HOW IS IT PROTECTIVE IN COVID

Early data shows that COVID-19 produces ion channels, thus changing the functions of the infected human cells. Magnesium on the other hand, energizes white blood cells and ups their production and blocks the “viral ion channel” in the body while protecting against oxidation. Another article, “Combating COVID19 and Building Immune Resiliency” by T.C Wallace, suggests that low levels of Magnesium can promote low-grade chronic inflammation. While Magnesium can’t directly prevent or cure COVID, it’s believed that it can help protect your body as it helps to boost the immune system.

Magnesium supplementation has been beneficial while treating a variety of disorders related to respiratory system, reproductive system, nervous system, digestive system, and cardiovascular system as well as kidney injury, diabetes and cancer.

HOW MAGNESIUM BUILDS YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM:

  • Has anti-inflammatory benefits
  • Lowers blood pressure
  • Has benefits against Type 2 Diabetes
  • Cardiovascular health benefits

SOURCES OF MAGNESIUM:

  • Almond
  • Avocado
  • Low fat yogurt

Taking 500 mg. of magnesium daily can certainly boost your immunity.
